In early December, I got the call to come to DC to work as Director of Design at the Presidential Inauguration Committee. Packed up my cats, and I was off.
I had many responsibilities running this team. The first thing I needed to do was create the brand. I needed the overall tone of this historical celebration to feel very presidential, celebratory and classy. But it also needed to still ring true to the established Obama Brand.
These were on the official Presidential motorcade in the parade. (My first license plate designing gig.)
2013 Presidential Inauguration
Social and Email Graphics
I had to quickly make the official invitation that was to be mailed to millions of people. I had to design all the tickets to the events, and all the credentials for everyone in participation. I had to work with the crowd management team to create maps and visual systems to help attendees find their way through the city that weekend. I had to hire and manage a team of 3 additional designers to help with map logistical design, commemorative book making, social graphics, a mobile app, and of course the website.
