OBAMA FOR AMERICA November: ELECTION DAY
It all came down to today. We had a lot of very high impact units and page take overs ready to go.
And this unit, which I feel single handedly, won the campaign for us.
In The End…
As the clock wound down on November 6th, tensions were high. It was like the stock exchange with everyone glued to the TV and monitors yelling a lot.
Finally as each state was called, we knew how it would end. And we were happy. There was such a sense of joy and comradery in the room as we made our way over to the event hall, to see our newly re-elected president take the stage. After an amazing, emotional, ecstatic night, we all went home to sleep and to wake up and have it all be real.
We got an urgent email the next morning telling everyone there was a mandatory staff meeting at 1:00pm. Still high on the emotions of the day before, we all got into work. Secret Service was everywhere, so we guessed what was about to happen. All 400 of us jammed into our usual standing spots, and Jim Messina and David Axelrod took to the microphones. With tears of pride in their eyes, the welcomed our President into the room. All 3 of them hugged, thanking each other for a long fought battle. The President spoke to us in a way I have never seen before. He was so overwhelmed with pride and emotion that he actually started to cry. I will remember that moment for the rest of my life. The leader of the free world, standing 8 feet away from me, humbled by our dedication and passion towards making this country a better place. And then he went around and thanked every single person on the campaign.
A year, a moment, and a lifetime I will never forget.
